Beth Orton has always been about integrating contrasts. In her earlier solo albums and previous collaborations with the likes of William Orbit and The Chemical Brothers, Orton combined her acoustic folk leanings with more highly produced dance beats and soundscapes. Rather than creating awkward musical chimeras, Orton was able to blend these disparate musical styles into seamless new wholes.
